Welcome to VeilMesh, a service provided by Bison Tech Solutions Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a secure, offline-capable communication experience. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your information, and outlines our strict guidelines for User-Generated Content (UGC) as a social networking platform.

1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

To provide our core mesh networking and messaging features, VeilMesh requests specific permissions. We only collect and use data necessary for the app to function:

Bluetooth & Local Network: We use Bluetooth and your Local Network exclusively to discover, connect to, and route messages through nearby peers when Wi-Fi or cellular networks are unavailable. This is the core of our offline mesh technology.
Camera: Used for taking your profile photo, scanning Veil ID QR codes from other devices to establish secure connections, taking photos to send in chats, and making video calls.
Microphone: Required to record voice messages and participate in audio/video calls.
Photo Library: Allows you to select an existing photo for your profile and upload images or documents to share with your contacts.
Push Notifications (VoIP & Standard): We use Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to wake your device for incoming calls and to notify you of new messages when the app is in the background.

2. Third-Party Services and Data Retention

We do not sell your personal data. We use the following third-party services strictly to facilitate the application's functionality:

Firebase: We use Firebase Authentication, Firebase App Check (via DeviceCheck), and Firebase Cloud Messaging. Firebase may collect device identifiers to attest that the app is genuine and to deliver push notifications securely.
Data Retention: Since we use End-to-End Encryption (E2EE), we cannot read your messages. If a recipient is offline, encrypted packets may be temporarily stored on our servers for up to 30 days to ensure delivery, after which they are automatically deleted.
Mesh Network Peers: When you send messages offline, your encrypted packets are routed through nearby devices using Bluetooth or Local Network. These intermediate peers cannot read your End-to-End Encrypted (E2EE) messages.

3. Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will take steps to delete it immediately in compliance with COPPA and GDPR regulations.

4. Social Networking and User-Generated Content (UGC)

VeilMesh is considered a social networking application, and we strictly enforce Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines regarding User-Generated Content.

Zero Tolerance Policy

We have a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content, abusive behavior, and harassment. Any user found sharing illegal, explicit, or highly offensive material will be permanently banned from the VeilMesh network.

Blocking Users

You have full control over who can communicate with you. You can block any user directly from the chat view. Blocked users are immediately prevented from sending you messages or calling you.

Reporting Objectionable Content

If you encounter abusive users or inappropriate content, you can report the user or specific messages directly to our moderation team via the in-app reporting feature. We review all reports within 24 hours.

5. End-to-End Encryption (E2EE)

Your private conversations, including text messages, photos, and voice/video calls, are secured using End-to-End Encryption. This means that nobody, not even the developers of VeilMesh or intermediate mesh peers, can read your messages or listen to your calls.

6. Account Deletion and Data Retention

You have the right to request the complete deletion of your account and associated data. You can delete your account directly from within the VeilMesh app settings. Upon deletion, your profile information, authentication tokens, and server-side data are permanently removed.
